Test Cricket: 2018-19 Domain Test Series 2nd Test of Australia v India at Perth Stadium, Day 5 Morning & Conclusion Session Review

It’s the 5th & final Day of the 2018/19 2nd Domain Test Series from Perth Stadium.

India resumes on 5-112 with Rishabh Pant (9) & Hanuma Vihari (24) remain at the crease.

They need 174 runs, or Australia secure the remaining five wickets to win.

Mitchell Starc captured Australia’s first wicket of the day by dismissing Vihari on 28.

Starc produced an excellent bounce with pace angling in straight where Vihari couldn’t execute the flick properly.

Hence, Vihari let his bat half edge up high to Marcus Harris’s hands at mid-wicket.

Nathan Lyon completed India’s top seven batting armor as Rishabh Pant tried to whack deep down the ground.

But Pant went too early where he half swung without a full flat bat straight to Peter Handscomb’s hands.

That left India’s tail order to do the batting after Pant went on 30, India 7-139.

Starc dismissed Umesh Yadav through the caught & bowl play as his 3rd victim during this 4th innings.

Pat Cummins later pushed Australia one wicket closer towards winning the 2nd test.

Cummins too captured Ishant Sharma out for a five-ball duck thanks to the catch from Tim Paine.

And it didn’t take too long for Cummins to wrap up the 2nd Test win for Australia with another caught & bowl play on Jasprit Bumrah.

FINAL SCORE: India 140 & Australia win by 146 runs.

It’s the first time in nine months that Australia has won a Test Match since Durban in March.

They now end their longest winless streak since 2013 as Australia level 1-1 with India in this four-match Test Series.

Tim Paine & Justin Langer also won their first Test Matches as Captain & Head Coach respectively.

On the other hand, India now lost seven test matches this year.

It’s the third time that India which equaled most of the Test losses in a calendar year from 1959, 1983 & 2018.

The 3rd Test Match between Australia v India will resume on Boxing Day next Wednesday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

For now, that’s the conclusion of the 2nd 2018/19 Domain Test Match from Perth Stadium.
