2018-19 Domain Tests: 4th Test of Australia v India, Day 5 End of Match Review at the Sydney Cricket Ground

Day 5’s play was to commence after lunch or as earlier as 10 AM this morning at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

However, due to persistent lousy light and some rain, the Umpires cannot allow on-field action for the rest of today.

Therefore, this match ended in a draw.

So the winners go to India who not only retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

They get to take home the four-match 2018/19 Domain Tests, 2-1 v Australia:

  • 1st Test, India won by 31 runs
  • 2nd Test, Australia won by 136 runs
  • 3rd Test, India won by 137 runs
  • 4th Test, Match Drawn

It’s the first time that India won the series in Australia since its 71 year inception when they first toured here in 1947.

Besides, they’re the first Asian country to win the series here as well as outside at home & Caribbean since 2009.

Despite winning the series, India still hasn’t won a Test Match at the SCG since the 4th Test v Australia on 7-12 January 1978.

In that game, India defeated against the home side by an innings and two runs.
