It was neck & neck during the first set between Alejandro Davidovich Fokina & John Millman, but it’s Fokina who closed out Millman with the opening lead 6-4.

Not long after the first set loss, Millman had to take some time to treat his ankle from the physio via the medical break, as he continues to carry this game the third set & not get eliminated in Round 2.

Although, Millman unable to carry the consistency after an early headstart when Davidovich Fokina brought this 2nd set to a tiebreaker.

Millman, however, bounced back at 7-6 (7-4 tiebreaker), as he tries everything possible to come back from behind & seal a 3rd round berth for Australia.

In the end it’s Davidovich Fokina who proved too good in the end at 6-3 over Millman, which is enough to advance to the next round against either Novak Djokovic or Jan-Lennard Struff.

For Millman, he fought back on occasions in these close battles, especially when he prevented the Spaniard from winning in straight sets.

But unfortunately just not his day after being inconsistent to carry on the momentum where it ultimately prevented Millman from winning the 1st & 3rd sets.

There is two Aussies left in Round 2 with James Duckworth & Max Purcell who will be facing Karen Khachanov & Dominick Koepfer respectively.
