Glad to see Stefanos Tsitsipas who took his time after he pulled out earlier on v Hubert Hurkacz due to an elbow strain as he helped Greece finish their difficult evening 1-2 v Poland with a late win in the lone doubles tie alongside Michail Pervolarakis.

It may not have been an easy challenge against Hubert Hurkacz & Jan Zielinski when Poland fought back after Greece’s brilliant fire off in the 1st set, but Tsitsipas & Pervolarakis managed to group themselves in the end that went down the wire with the tiebreaker.

Score: 6-4 to Greece, 5-7 to Poland & 10-8 to Greece.

Poland is 2nd in Group D after 1st placed Argentina clean-swept Georgia 3-0 earlier today which will be their next challengers in two days, Greece sits 3rd in the same group where they will fight to keep their finals hopes alive against the leaders (Argentina).

And how good is Serbia when they just defeated Norway in the doubles decider to go 2-1 through the best of three ties in Group A, it was a tight first set battle at the beginning before Serbia were too good to bring it home in straight sets.

Score: 7-6 via 7-3 tiebreaker & 6-3 to Serbia.

Liked how Casper Ruud stayed on after his win in the 2nd singles game v Dusan Lajovic in a bid to help his country (Norway) finish out on top with Viktor Durasovic & were on the same page for most of the 1st set, they just couldn’t keep in contention this late when Filip Krajinovic & Nikolas Cacic were way closer towards victory by that stage for Serbia.

Norway’s next opponent is Spain on Monday who is topping the charts in Group A right now as they sit in 3rd, Serbia on the other hand just behind Spain in 2nd and will face Chile at the same time after their 3-0 thumping against the Group A leaders.

Day 1 of the 2022 ATP Cup during the 1st day of the new year is done for the night as we look forward to Day 2 tomorrow.
