2022 ATP Cup, Daniil Medvedev & Roman Safiullin wrapped up 2-1 for Russia in the singles tie

What a way to wrap up the Russia v France series in Group B of the 2022 ATP Cup as we’ve just seen brilliant doubles match with both teams gone side by side for the whole time before Russia got the job done in straight sets at Ken Rosewall Arena.

Score: 6-4, 6-4 to Daniil Medvedev & Roman Safiullin

Commiserations from France’s Edouard Roger-Vassellin & Fabrice Martin who weren’t able to get themselves over the line, they got the build-up base going that produced some fightback but just faltered at the climax off each set. And how good is Russia when they were on the same page with France & got held back a few times before they blew them away in the end 2-1 out of the best of three ties.

Now it’s Australia’s turn v Italy in the same group starting with Max Purcell v 10th seed Jannik Sinner after James Duckworth had to withdraw due to a sore hip, big task thrown up for the 176th seed in Duckworth’s place that will begin soon.
