Tennis News, Canada wrapped up 2-0 v Spain in the 2022 ATP Cup Final as they crown champions last night

by Sports Benches

Last night’s ATP Cup Final between Spain and Canada was thrilling to watch very competitive battles along the way through every point and game, but it’s Canada who came out on top 2-0 with no doubles tie required as they’re crowned this year’s champions at Ken Rosewall Arena.

Hats off to Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Alliasime on a outstanding performance on the court, they were on the same page as Pablo Carreno Busta and Robert Bautista Agut respectively on their own at the start before Shapovalov & Auger-Alliasime both upped the ante after the break and found the homestretch that saw them lift the ATP Cup trophy.

Meanwhile, Spain would be disappointed to settle as runner-up where Carreno Busta & Bautista Agut put in lots of effort in the opening set even though they fell short which isn’t easy. However, they were behind later on that left them little time to catch up against the Canadians as it’s too little, too late in the end.

Final Score: #1, 4-6 & 3-6 to Shapovalov & #2, 6-7 via 3-7 tiebreaker & 3-6 to Auger-Alliasime

That’s it for this year’s ATP Cup after nine days of unbelievable moments made on the tennis court, we have the Sydney Tennis Classic now in place today through Saturday this week before the two-week Australian Open grand slam tournament is on beginning next Monday in Melbourne.
