Too easy to say SVG – one of NASCAR’s greatest road course ringers to grace yet another win for the 4th time in 2025.
Like the in-season championship and the regular championship, maybe a dedicated road course championship for the best road course driver then? It will be like SVG winning the League Cup for a start as the sixth & final road course race of the year wraps up at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s roval configuration in the first week of October – would love nothing more than to host a decider there.
Last year’s winner Chris Buescher came home 3rd in the No.17 Mustang for RFK Racing with some good speed as always such as the stage 1 win.
He wished he could’ve done a bit better like the long-game strategy that caught up on him a few times including the last lap to C. Bell but good news that he’s still just inside the Top 16 Playoffs bubble.
A win with not many regular races to go is kinda a tall order. But again, all three RFK Fords have to play their cards right and not make up a single mistake. This is going to be a big difference between being in the Playoffs or not later this season & they better sort that out first in case so RFK don’t keep on ending up second best.

Great to see fellow Trackhouse star Daniel Suarez back in the Top 10 in 7th off the back of some good long-run spells to get where he wants to be from 19th.
And same with Bubba Wallace in the No.23 Camry for 23XI in 8th from 15th.
3 x good solid runs including the win from Indy with the last two able to finish races strong goes to show how Bubba is keeping a good eye on the front runners as if he started his Playoffs preparations today.
He’s got a stellar group with Charles Denike by his side upstairs as it’s all about keeping the balance right.
At the same time, improving their qualifying runs would help mean that Bubba and the No.23 would be able to match everyone else and stay fighting up front all day both speed and strategy.
Xfinity Series

Another long afternoon also when it comes to the Xfinity Series at The Glen where SVG was sent straight the wall while the other got away with the win unscathed in Connor Zilisch.
Unlucky from SVG no doubt disappointed as not his fault but there’s always tomorrow when it comes to racing Cup whereas Zilisch simply kept his top spot position through the checkered flag despite being extremely exhausted post-race as glad he’s okay.
Plus, Sam Mayer had an all-round Top 5 equipment with thanks to the Haas Ford team especially when he was so close to winning again with a few to go.
Great to see another JR Chevy finish 3rd by Sammy Smith, who not only benefit from Stage 2 adjustments on pit road, but also some huge Stage 3 gains off yellows.
I get SVG and Connor are team-mates sometimes right now and most likely more often next season but hoping this doesn’t turn ugly with both top-shelf racers that can give Justin Marks a run of his money who was also a famed road course racer himself and now runs Team Trackhouse.
Plus, best-placed Toyota of this race belongs to one of the Gibbs cars by Brandon Jones in 9th for the No.20 Supra.
Didn’t hear much from him earlier on when he was struggling at the back in the first half from 13th and there was a few other Toyotas batting way ahead of him.
However, he just wanted to make the most out of strategy and that helped Brandon improve his spots big time, even though the car may not have been able to go any higher to hold off in 9th which wasn’t bad.
Truck Series

Also same thing with Trucks through endless Stage 3 yellows and three OTs the other day but Corey Heim was simply resilient in the end over the Chevy of Daniel Hemric.
He won both Pole and Stage 1 – could’ve been stage 2 if it wasn’t the odd yellow where he lost a few spots off pit road.
But win was always possible as long as he’s still in there & makes up lost time for it with tremendous speed – same with Hemric when he found his way upfront that late following an indifferent 1st half.
Could’ve been any different also for Christopher Bell in the No.52 Truck for Stewart Friesen’s team if the race did finish without OTs & he needed fuel again but good recovery though in 4th.
And mighty result to Gio Ruggiero in 3rd – top front row day for the Tricon Toyotas.
The best-placed Ford running driver of the race was defending champion Ty Majeski in 7th for ThorSport Racing whose car may not have gone anywhere near the front row as often as they would’ve liked.
There were a few other Fords experiencing mechanical related issues & other issues particularly the long wave of Stage 3 cautions while the mix of Toyotas and Chevys always filled up the Top 10 except Ty and 10th-placed finisher Layne Riggs at Front Row No.34.
But profiting off yellows & ensuring he lasts through the checkered flag were imperative to Ty solidifying his Top 10 finish at the end of the day.
