Full credit to the noise following the Steel’s one-goal comeback win Netball 2025 Week 7 by none other than Georgia Heffernan at Goal Attack, who can sink in lots of amazing shots including at Super Shot time (the two-pointer), which shows she can get the job done at crucial moments like this tonight.
Very important skill to have at this elite Netball level as looks like she’s at her best that could go a long way should the Steel end up Top 3 by Week 10 for the Playoffs.
There’s another Heffernan you need to know and she’s a recognised Silver Fern at the heart of the Steel’s mid-court line is Kate Heffernan even though she had to be on managed minutes. But again Kate’s hard work and leadership with her passing & feeds allowed the Steel to build some momentum that will make the Central Pulse second guess themselves right from Centre Pass across the full hour’s of play.

Some say that Kate should’ve stayed on till the end but gotta trust the legend in Wendy Frew and credit to her on pulling off that close win at the finish line there.
As we cross over to the other end, it’s not easy pickings for the Pulse to throw it all away for the third straight week having lost the game yet again. It’s so alarming when they were Top 2 at the start but now they’re at risk of being left out if Pulse continues to go in there bereft of ideas thinking they’ve got it even though the seed is there to grow but not quite after the final whistle blows missing 1-2 tricks.
The only positive right now from this group is Grace Nweke’s next in-line with the Goal Shoot bib Amelia Walmsley since Nweke is at the Swifts here in Sydney and not eligible to play for the Ferns for now.

Her natural tall reach every time Amelia aims close to the net was 100% sublime like signing off a magnificent piece of art – she loves interior design btw. And what’s not she doesn’t like about shooting? Well she’s already put her name out there for the Ferns U21 team later this year that can go a long way towards keeping the Ferns options upfront safe and secure ahead of Commonwealth 2026 & World Cup 2027. For now, she needs the Pulse’s full backing or else it will be a crushing blow if they finish outside Top 3.
After Week 7 of 10, the race is still on for 3rd other than the mighty Mystics and the continued uptick dominance of the Tactix, with Pulse hanging on by a thread based on goal difference over Steel on 10 points.
Yes, Magic aren’t far behind (-2) but safe to say they haven’t been able to beat the Mystics back-to-back. Although if they can beat both the Steel (next round this Saturday) and Pulse (Week 10) plus a shock upset v Tactix, anything is possible.
