Tennis News, John Isner too good at the start while Taylor Fritz went from a set down to a brilliant comeback as USA go 2-0 up v Canada in the 2022 ATP Cup

USA opened their 2022 ATP Tour journey on a fast start when John Isner was too good against Canadian Brayden Schnur in straight sets 1-6, 3-6 this morning at Qudos Bank Arena, Schnur showed some fight after he went a set down entered this tie as World No.238 but he couldn’t underestimate 24th seed Isner who is ten years his junior at age 36 & still smashing it left, right and center.

Then we look at an unbelievable 2 1/2 hour battle with Felix Auger-Alliasime held back Taylor Fritz in the 1st set having saved four break points via tiebreaker, although he never gave up in this fight along the way but World No.21 Fritz beaten the 11th seed to the punch in the 2nd and 3rd set that delivered a 2-0 series win for USA with the double tie to spare.

USA will meet Germany & keep that winning start ticking towards the final four while Canada try to rebound v Great Britain that is both happening on Wednesday.

Tennis News, Kamil Majchrzak off to a bright start for Poland as he defeated Greece’s Michail Pervolarakis in straight sets of the 2022 ATP Cup

Kamil Majchrzak proved too good in the 1st set for Poland before he wrapped it all up through straight sets v Michail Pervolarakis (1-6, 4-6) as his country went 1-0 in the best of three games v Greece with the 2nd singles tie to come shortly at Qudos Bank Arena from Aristotelis Thanos (Greece) & Hubert Hurkacz (Poland).

Unlucky for Pervolarakis when he was blown away by Majchrzak at the beginning with just one consolation point during the 1st set, although he fought back at times especially with that headstart this time after the break but couldn’t stop the momentum the Majchrzak set up from start to finish.

It’s Majchrzak’s first win in this tournament for Poland, what a way to open the first night of 2022 ATP Cup.
