Plant-Based

While I’ve been at it watching endless Domino pizza making POV clips on YouTube lately, I’ve had the chance to make another pizza of my own entirely from scratch that is homemade in none other than deep pan pizza for lunch – the one that I used to enjoy eating those from both Pizza Hut & Dominos.

Every now and then we have days when we go with a day without meat as thought this would be a great time to make one without meat of course as still eat meat outside of a certain meat-free day for the most part & yet this deep pan pizza I’ve made both tastes and also looks good at the same time.

The ingredients I had on it was tomato sauce mixed with oregano and a bit of white pepper alongside avocado, tomatoes and some pineapple as still on the lookout for some dairy-free cheese and also meat-free sausage someday that doesn’t have soybeans, black beans and pine nuts on it to avoid eczema. I’ll let you know I’m able to find one or a few that can help improve my pizza making even better of any kind without any problems.

Every time though when you make pizza dough with yeast and then wait it out to rise for 1-2 hours, make sure you don’t thin out your base too much.

Yes, I’m all for it also with thin n’ crispy pizza as done that a few times before as also loved eating that too; But again, make sure leave 1-2 inches out depending on the volume you put in with your yeast by not stretching it too thin.

Otherwise, it will come out a bit like a volcano/part basketball shaped like pizza – at least after cooking the bottom part based from experience.

Although I had to collapse it after cooking the top part which then looks like a normal flat shaped pizza as if I was a chiropractor, but then it’s best to keep it with a rule of thumb as said above for next time.

With deep dish pizza dough, you might want to keep it a bit longer when it comes to the cooking process, and that includes both the bottom first and then the top sides with the saucing and other toppings of your choice.

Patience is key but boy, the pizza looks stunning hands down. It’s easy for me to manage with making pizza (as long as you keep a good rule of thumb with how you want to shape your pizza base) whenever & wherever I like from time to time.

Earlier this week, I took the chance to try out these ready-made dumplings from Woolworths thanks to Chan’s Yum Cha with the vegetable flavour pack that is both meat free and plant based too. They have 12 pieces in it with some good range of vegetables (only 1-2 greens even though it says a delicious selection of Asian greens) like cabbage, chives, shiitake mushroom & carrot that is covered with a gyoza style of pastry including white pepper to add a bit of spice alongside some salt.

There’s three ways you can do with these dumplings – you can either steam it with boiling water, just throw them in boiling water or pan fry it by adding oil first and then cover it with water. All three options have the same cooking time of 7-8 minutes and wow!! these are oh so good once they come out before it’s all ready to eat. For me personally, it looks really great both ways when I pan fried these dumplings with a mix of healthy veggies on the inside and some crisp on the outside. Gotta say they tasted really good as said when you want to balance the texture and the ingredients of this product, which makes sense for Tasman Foods International to give Chen’s Yum Cha a go on the main supermarket shelves where we always stop by for our groceries everyday. I’d like to try making one though someday off my own with just a little tweaks to my pick of veggies!

The price by the way is $6.95 at Woolworths as you can also try out his other dumplings in Japanese Pork Gyoza as well as vegetable spring roll and he also has some pies too but in Asian-style with the vegetable curry puffs that is originated from Malaysia – all other three products are also same price too. See it for yourself when you can grab one out from the freezer shelves before get things ready (steam, boil or pan fry) that only takes a few minutes at home from Chan’s Yum Cha range.

I’ve just thought it would be a great time to try out a plant-based or dairy-free version of the Cherry Ripe chocolate bar & fortunately, that wish has been realised today thanks to Muscle Nation after I bought one today at my local Coles store.

I might be a bit irked when the coconut flakes may have fallen everywhere but I understand that’s part of the presentation of the final piece. However, I do love how they made the a mix of the gooey cherry jam and the custard filling all on the inside together that makes this dairy-free/plant-based “cherry ripe” chocolate bar so great. I would have it most days of the week during my morning snack, even though it may be a bit pricey compared to the usual cherry ripe chocolate bar.

Plus, it’s a protein bar even though it’s dairy-free and plant based, which is good for people like me and for those who are on a diet or need to use it to support their training/exercise program. So for kids, you can’t eat it until you’re 15 since it’s not your typical regular snack & for women who are currently pregnant, please consult your physician/doctor before trying this out. But again, I’ll see if there’s any way I can make a dairy free cherry ripe bar that is good to eat at home as a regular snack next time. For now, it’s on special only for a limited time at $3.60 & you can buy it at your local Coles store.

And finally, thanks to Muscle Nation for showcasing a dairy-free/plant-based/vegan “cherry ripe” chocolate. I do wish though that you can make a dairy-free/plant-based/vegan birthday cake bar too.

Yesterday, I found out something interesting at my local Coles store where I fortunate to buy the last packet of the brand new Vegan Prawn Crackers Sea Salt flavour from Vege Chips. Unlike the prawn chips out there that has a bit of prawn meat & Crustacea, they are indeed dairy-free and egg free and it was so good to eat once I opened the packaging myself during my midday snack treat at home. I couldn’t believe they have these having last tasted prawn chips a long time ago but now I can enjoy tasting them again in a different way that suits one’s dietary requirements/limitations thanks to Vege Chips.

Although I’m aware that Vege also released their new fusions Asian crisps range (one in Corn & the other in Vege), but don’t think this is for me since it has onion and some chillies & spices on it. I can’t wait to buy them again next time whenever possible including the BBQ pack which also suits me well likewise with their usual chips range every now & then. Make sure you try it for yourself if you’re able to find one at your local Coles supermarket store at a special price right now of $3.15.

Hello,

It’s been a while since I was last active on my blog a few weeks ago but I’ve been making some awesome food recipes, as well as tasting some cool snacks lately that is going to be yummy, dairy-free and egg-free.

You don’t wanna to miss it as I’ve attached some decent sneak peak photos on a pic collage where I will look to try & post these here consistently at least once a week for a restart.

Plus, I might pop in some occasional tech, health or fitness stuff here from time to time again whenever I might need to take a break from baking/creating/replicating food recipes or posting snack content.

Hope is all well as stay tuned to kick off the Month of May over the next few weeks.

Regards,

Matt

Gotta love a healthy block of plant-based and dairy-free protein chocolate bars when I got the chance to eat a few days ago during my afternoon snack. They taste really nice and sweet on the outside while seeing some natural benefits with a mix of dark chocolate flavour, coconut & nuts on the inside.

I would love to make these dairy-free chocolate bars with some benefit of protein as my own someday & make it similar to these cherry ripe, Turkish Delight & Kit-Kat blocks that is so cheap to quickly buy & eat everywhere!

And now that is my super quick thoughts on this healthy snack after I finished eating them, as you can go see for yourself for just $3-4 at a local supermarket near you like Coles & Woolworths!!

Here’s another dairy-free snack or topping you should try at home which is the Bio Cheese Cheedar flavour slices that I’ve brought off my local supermarket at Woolworths yesterday. Although it doesn’t have a health star rating, but it’s still healthy to eat with plenty of benefits being shown there. I’ve shredded one slice across two small pizzas earlier today during lunch and they taste really good, especially when it’s so perfect for those who are on a meat-free/vegan diet.

I could’ve also brought the ready-made shredded version as far I’m aware of, but you pair up see the dairy-free sliced pack beyond pizzas such as burgers/wraps/sandwiches, as well as biscuits, pasta, garlic bread & many more of your choice.

In terms of price, it can be a bit expensive at around the $6 mark but it’s still worth the weekly eating budget when looking to keep healthy or stay away from dairy. See it for yourself & make dairy-free cheese your own regular lunch or snack craving.

Here’s some Greek Style yoghurt you can try for your next morning or afternoon tea craving thanks to Vitasoy, which contains with a hint of strawberry alongside a good source of calcium & protein.

They tasted really good as it’s really healthy to eat on the inside while they’re thick & creamy with so much natural pink flavour on the outside. Speaking of healthiness, it has a decent rating of 4.5 out of 5 too!! You can’t go wrong with this type of dairy-free & vegan yoghurt that can help you get on with your day ahead!!

It’s available to buy for only $2.70 (140g range) at your local Woolworths supermarket.

You’ve got to try two amazing plant-based chicken ranges from Birds Eye, such as the plant-based chicken style tenders & chicken strips.

Not only they have a decent health star rating of 3.5 (tenders) – 4.5 (strips) out of five, but it has no artificial colours or flavours. Plus, they’re high in protein which is perfect for meat free Mondays during any day or night of the week, as well as those who rely on a vegan diet.

The plant-based chicken strips ain’t bad when I had the chance other day during dinner, which is great for pairing salads, noodles, pasta & rice alongside various vegetables & sauces. But for me, the plant-based chicken style tenders taste better when it comes to the delicious crumbs & the meat-free variety in it.

These meat-free tenders are even a better combination when making healthy sandwiches/burgers (here’s a picture alongside a few Mini Potato Cakes that I’ve covered last week here).

Make sure you cook them beforehand as per instructions regardless of your choice of cooking appliance, since these packages come in frozen. And you can select whichever Birds Eye plant-based chicken range you like that is available in stock right now for $6.50 at your local Coles supermarket here.
