Hats off to Emoni Narawa who made such a huge difference for the Chiefs with back-to-back tries in the 2nd 40 where they got away with another win after five rounds in 2023. Just like how we saw Leicester Fainga’anuku earlier tonight on the wide left for the Crusaders, Narawa’s finishing exactly does the same damage that left a huge mess for the opposition. Love how Alex Nankivell offloaded him with an inside ball, as well as Narawa chasing & finishing off an inside cross kick off Shaun Stevenson where his natural abilities are there to see. While he continues to chase silverware for his Chiefs side this year, let’s see if he will either represent Fiji or All Blacks in International level at some point.
Great to see Alex Nankivell not only smash a few of the Tahs brick walls, but also set up the execution well which sums up a decent night for the Chiefs at outside centre (No.13 shirt). He has tremendous physicality, pace & height that tested his all-round contribution as always. Plus, the way he communicates with his players keep an good eye on the Tahs in the first-half before Nankivell guided the Chiefs to the next level as his hard work exactly says just like that. Now he may be Ireland bound with Munster after this season, but Nankivell is flying high with so much Super Rugby experience right now at age 26 even without a single All Blacks cap.
And Tahs No.9 (scrum-half) Jake Gordon continues to make history in Moore Park, especially when he got away with an intercepted TRY earlier in the first half that saw his team level with the Chiefs. He’s got excellent athletic ability to pull it off on top of his tremendous leadership in all facets of rugby. Jake will no doubt continue to make more Tahs moments as skipper & also for the Wallabies for another few years. But for now, there’s still an uphill battle to turn around, particularly when lost penalties & ill-discipline let the Tahs slip away towards the end while dealing a few players on the injury list.
