RUGBY NEWS AUSTRALIA, TOP 3 PLAYERS FROM THE WARATAHS V BRUMBIES MATCH IN ROUND 1 OF THE 2023 SUPER RUGBY PACIFIC SEASON

by Sports Benches

Ryan Lonergan was off to a red-hot start at half-back where he opened the account for the Brumbies last night. He is such a all-round player to watch when not only he has so much leadership & communication skills every time they’re building momentum, but he can also kick everywhere too including the goalposts as well. Having played for most of the 80 minutes, he also collected a few successful penalty goals & two-point conversions before he earned an early mark with his side well in cruise control.

Next up, his team-mate Tom Wright over on the wide right at No.14. He too can be dangerous when it comes to their attacking play, even without having to score tries by giving the Brumbies a helping hand. His pace is one thing that saw Wright hit the ground running followed by the communication so he can analyse the Tahs’ body language defensively before roping his men to get the job done which was made possible with two TRY assists on the board. And his contribution did exactly just that which not only blew the Tahs away on home turf, but also potentially the whole comp itself if the Brumbies can go all the way this season.

And yes, the Tahs may be disappointed right now on their first game back at Allianz Stadium in Moore Park thanks to their slow start that led to some inconsistency along the way before they fell short in the end. However, we should look at such a young prodigy at age 18 right now who was outstanding last night on the wide left – Max Jorgensen. He never stops running back & forth alongside loads of physicality which helped him contribute a lot as a team player, particularly when he got away with two tries + a conversion kick (2nd 40) on debut. Gotta say keep working hard every week & he will be on his way to achieve everything great under Darren Coleman’s guidance at Daceyville.
