At this time of the year, glad we had Grey’s Anatomy back on our screens on what is has been a huge start of the new season No.22.
We had heartfelt goodbyes since new problems came out along with patients coming in and out at Grey Sloan where some do or didn’t make it.
Same with relationships amongst medical staff and its interns including one particular couple whose wife is currently fighting for life while expecting twins.
We’ll have to wait and see and here’s hoping they can make it with still a lot to give back as a young couple together.
Before we look back at these key moments over the first six episodes with Grey’s Anatomy currently on hiatus, Sports Benches is here for your weekly recap Entertainment fix like General Hospital.

Yes, not really much of a medical drama these days since it’s daytime.
But there’s a whole lot of feel good highs and lows amongst certain families including yesterday’s edition here.
We also have sports weekly recaps for you with the usual sports like NASCAR, Rugby and Netball currently on off-season mode.
But we are still rolling when it comes to our summer sports series with the 2nd Ashes Test between Australia v England (Cricket) to come soon in Brisbane after next week.
Episodes 1-3
Picking up from the season 21 finale earlier early last month, a fire broke out that became a whole new problem to kickstart season 22 of Grey’s Anatomy.

Two more people were badly trapped like Link with his right shoulder while Dr. Monica Beltran couldn’t feel her legs but then unfortunately didn’t make it.
Beltran’s final moments were saving that little boy’s life even though she was unable to physically operate on him herself.
Her methods have indeed been a success with Jules by her side not long before Beltran succumbed to her own death, RIP.
Episode 2
Episode 2 continued with plenty of condolences amongst medical staff at Grey Sloan where two were unable to return to work or fully concentrate at work like Jules as mentioned earlier and Amelia Shepherd.
Amelia has since been granted to have the year off as must say it’s right time for her to have much needed R&R after going through such a lot, particularly after being held hostage by Dylan’s mom in the OR until Mer saved the day from last season’s finale.
With Jules, glad she took the time using Monica’s practices to save another patient — no matter how hard it can be not having Beltran by her side anymore. Love how Millin also organised a proper memorial for Beltran by texting her colleagues 9-1-1.
That patient is an elderly male from Cambodia who suffers from chest pains and Millin successfully removed that accessory spleen right out of his chest.
Episode 3
Before we look at this particular block, glad to hear that Nick Marsh’s Scott Speedman (Mer’s right hand man on Grey’s) landed the lead gig for ABC’s next newest prime-time drama RJ Decker.
His role would investigate more on documenting crimes as a independent photojournalist than treating patients on this one but look out for March-May 2026 which I think Grey’s would wrap things up by then.
In the meantime, Nick has returned to Grey Sloan to operate a life-changing experiment on another young boy’s patient whose lung condition continues to get worse day after day.
Although Nick wasn’t 100% sure whether this surgery will make it but Winston took complete control with confidence and the boy is now able to breathe again.
Hats off to the two dads who risked themselves to have each part of their lungs removed where one had complications while the other had no issues. At the end of the day, happy to hear they can continue to build a family together with their mighty young boy.
Happening Elsewhere, ah, Dr. Lucas Adams. Sure he’s got the smarts with the way he treats patients including his close chat with non-stop talking therapist & seriously ill cancer patient Katie Rogers.
But at the same time, Lucas needs to cut his attitude every time he avoids Bryant just because Simone cheated on him.
Episodes 4-6
Nothing much happened in episode 4 other than Cass and Teddy making new memories along with the Mer v Dr. Avery drama about her alzheimers research on gender mice and Mer was initially reluctant to treat his patient with hernia.
Thankfully the surgery was a success and Mer has since returned to Boston for now to further her research.
One thing’s for sure was that Hobby Horses storyline with two best friends where had a minor facial injury while the other collapsed & there’s a recovering Link calling the shots with his arm sling on.
It’s been tough for someone letting that hobby go but it’s for the best with other opportunities to find elsewhere.
Episode 5
While we don’t know what happened to Katie Rogers after she tried to reach out to Dr. Adams but then collapsed due to a clot on her leg, we saw a whole lot worse this time with a terrified mom who is also an immigrant.
Not only she has a horrible foot infection since she’s diabetic, she would also face deportation back to Mexico if the authorities do indeed see her since she was reluctant to turn up at appointments.
Thankfully, Dr. Kwan and Millin arranged a special ambulance for her to be treated just inside the van — and as long as she manages her prescription, she’s okay.
Then in another scene, we were also sad to see Simone’s mom’s best friend go whose serious lung condition meant she’s not able to last long. It was a surprise at first when Simone came over to check in with a patient and it turns out to be someone her mom knows very well.
Yes, tragic; but at last Simone is now able to learn from that legacy starting with a simple phone call to her mom.
Episode 6
Now that was massive with a huge double bus accident at the start followed by Jo’s big day ahead hoping to introduce the world with twins after she helped her own patient out (also pregnant) from the previous episode.
Now that double bus accident has impacted so many relationships like Macy – whose leg got stuck & later amputated – and her estranged boyfriend who expressed deep regrets following her untimely accident.
For Simone and Bryant? Not so much as maybe there’s second chance coming for Adams then after all.
But can’t believe that Snacks Connoisseur Kwan got stunned by surprise with a kiss from his new colleague Dr. Kavita Movanti. I’ve also seen some candid interactions between Winston and Jules since Jules broke up with Mika early last season but you never know at the back end of Season 22.
Maybe a surprise kiss? Who knows?
Then Owen deserves better with Nora even though she’s still unwell following her latest heart surgery success also from the Grey’s Season 21 finale since Teddy chose herself over him. Oh wait? Cass Beckman.

Finally, more on Jo’s checking in after her water broke with Link.
We were all excited on their next journey following that wedding earlier this year.
Unfortunately, Jo wanting to give birth to twins may or may not see the light of day than first thought.
It’s been revealed that Jo has weak muscle heart tissues that could put either herself and/or the twins at risk unless Winston and Weston find alternative ways to deliver the twins differently.
From there, she became unresponsive that we don’t know for sure until at least Grey’s comes back from their mid-season break in early January 2026.
What’s also didn’t know that Dr. Richard Webber has prostate cancer after he refused to release that lecture series Dr. Bailey badly wanted unless she gives Webber his biopsy results.
There’s a short clip after the mid-season finale of Charles Pickens Jr. (Webber’s portrayer also had the diagnosis himself) addressing the condition that affects most amongst men as early detection is key towards reducing that risk.
Go check with your doctor today & glad to hear that Charles is cancer free — great news for our Grey’s Anatomy fans.
