Nine now confirmed to air the 2024 Melbourne Cup Carnival for the first time under Tabcorp over the next five years

Today this year’s Melbourne Cup edition will have a new free-to-air rights partner over the next six years (2024-2029). Now it won’t be back on Ten or even Seven but it will be on Nine for the first time ever under Tabcorp, who will hold most of the rights packages including its advertising and broadcast content, etc. Nine are just there to be onboard as they won’t be paying the whole lot unlike Seven & Ten who previously paid lots of $$$ to show the races. The week-long carnival such as Derby Day, Melbourne Cup Day, Oaks Day & Stakes Day will be live on Nine & 9Now. It remains to be seen if Nine will have their own on-air crew onboard with Tabcorp either as a joint broadcast effort or will have just some of their own air times during this annual event, which is similar to what Seven do when they air selected live Supercars races with Fox Sports every year. But other than that, it’s great to see them air the Melbourne Cup Horse Racing for the first time come November.
